Trinity Lutheran Congregation is a community of faith
that has worshiped and actively engaged in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood since 1868. A Reconciling in Christ congregation, Trinity cofounded Augsburg College and Fairview University Hospital and codeveloped an innovative, mixed-income 85-unit urban housing complex. Our current mission is to help break down the walls of racism, sexuality, ethnic origin, economic status and religion.

A Church Without Walls

In 1966 Trinity lost its building to Interstate 94 construction. The mission-minded congregation voted to use its resources in active outreach to the Cedar-Riverside community rather than investing in a new church building. The lack of conventional church walls frees us to tear down walls that can separate us from effective service to God and each other.

Our Office and Worship
But we do need a few practical walls. We worship in the Augsburg College chapel at the corner of Riverside and 22nd Avenue (get directions). Our office is at the corner of Riverside and 20th Avenue. We share this building with St. Martin's Table, a peace and justice ministry and one of our many partners in mission.

One wall we are particularly fond of is pictured above. It faces out to our community and delivers a strong message about Trinity’s mission and ministry in Cedar-Riverside.

Join Us
The Church is not about buildings. It's the people of God doing God's work in our midst. See for yourself. Join us for worship or contact us to find out more.
