Community Outreach

As Christ’s presence in Cedar-Riverside, Trinity has walked alongside neighborhood residents, helping where appropriate. For the last 40 years we have participated in the life of the community without a church building. Today our activities include:

Safe Place: Homework Help – A Trinity tutoring program for Cedar-Riverside kids, primarily East African, to receive help with homework after school during the regular school year. Adult volunteers are especially needed in January and early June. 2001 Riverside Avenue (upstairs). Learn more by reading about an afternoon in the life of one volunteer.

Wednesday Night Suppers – A weekly meal and some supervised recreation, primarily for Cedar-Riverside moms and kids. Sponsored by Trinity with volunteers from numerous church and community organizations. From
6:00 – 7:15 p.m. 2001 Riverside Avenue (downstairs in
St. Martins’ Table).

Change4Peace – Trinity’s six-week summer program for neighborhood kids emphasizing the arts. 2001 Riverside Avenue (upstairs).

Family Opportunities for Living Collaboration (FOLC), a group launched by and for immigrants – Trinity members serve with immigrant residents on each of its five task forces.

Health awareness – Together with FOLC, Trinity hosts occasional evenings of dancing for women of many cultures.

Inter-faith, inter-cultural neighborhood gatherings – during times of community distress or celebration

Providing contributions and joining other community volunteers at the Brian Coyle Community Center food shelf and winter coat drive

Membership in MICAH – a nonprofit that organizes metro-area congregations to create policy solutions to the affordable housing crisis

Providing below-market rent to St. Martin’s Table – a peace and justice-oriented bookstore and restaurant

Good News Radio Service – Sundays from 4:00 – 4:30 p.m. on KNOF 95.3 FM. This new radio ministry includes a faith message, interviews, and more in Amharic, the official language of Ethiopia.

ISAIAH – we participate in this effort by an ecumenical collective of urban and suburban congregations to organize their communities in support of economic and racial justice.

Trinity offers its meeting room (upstairs at 2001 Riverside) to Cedar-Riverside community groups for a nominal fee. Email mail@trinity-lc.org for more information.
